Cross-platform media player XBMC gets a great-looking new update

XBMC is a cross-platform, open-source media center app that can play almost any file format and makes a perfect companion for your home theater system. On top of its other attractive features — it’s compatible with all sorts of remote controls, and can even be installed on the original XBOX! — the latest version of XBMC includes a sweet-looking new default skin.

The new look, Confluence, is a gorgeous combination of some of the most popular XBMC skins, and it looks great on a big TV or HD display. The new eye candy in the latest update also comes with new features and fixes, including smart playlists, better subtitle support (including Blu-Ray subtitles) and better RAW image support.

XBMC is available for Mac, Linux and Windows, with the Windows version now packing DirectX support by default.
